Tracking the chances of a storm starting next week in the Detroit metro


Welcome to Sunday Night, Motown.

This evening remains warm under clear skies. Tonight will be a little more cloudy and mild. Tomorrow will be warmer with a mix of clouds and sunshine. An air quality alert is in effect Monday for Lenawee, Macomb, Monroe, Oakland, St. Clair, Washtenaw and Wayne counties.

Stagnant air supports high levels of air pollution. You can do your part to prevent this. There is a risk of strong to severe thunderstorms tomorrow evening and early Tuesday.

Sunday evening will be warm under a beautiful sky. Temperatures will be in the high 70s and low 80s by dinner time.

Sunset is at 9:11 p.m.

Sunday night will be mostly clear and cool to balmy. Overnight lows will be in the upper 50s and lower 60s.

Heading into a warmer week.

  • Monday will be partly sunny and warmer than Sunday. There is a slight chance of scattered showers and thunderstorms in Le Pouce.

  • Most of southeast Michigan will be dry as high temperatures reach the upper 80s. Remember to put on plenty of sunscreen and stay hydrated. Additionally, you can reduce air pollution levels by using public transportation, carpooling, and taking a break from mowing the lawn or using gas-powered equipment.

  • Monday evening there is a chance of showers and thunderstorms around midnight and after. There is a “marginal risk” of severe to severe storms with heavy showers, frequent lighting and damaging winds and hail.

  • Tuesday morning has the chance of an early scattered rain shower. Maximum temperatures will be in the mid-80s.

  • Wednesday may have spotty showers or two more partly sunny skies. It will be hot again with highs in the 80s.

  • Thursday will be mostly sunny and warmer. Maximum temperatures will be near 85°F.

  • Friday will be a typical summer day. Afternoon temperatures will be in the mid to above 80s.
