The St. Johns Bridge will close for five nights beginning at 10 p.m. Monday, Jan. 31 for bridge maintenance and inspections, according to the Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT).
The bridge will close on the night of Monday January 31 from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. the next morning. The schedule will repeat from Tuesday to Friday evening and work will be completed no later than 5:00 a.m. on Saturday. February 5.
The St. Johns Bridge will remain open to pedestrians and cyclists during construction. Flaggers will guide pedestrians and cyclists onto the bridge at the east and west ends of the bridge.
ODOT said the closures are necessary for maintenance and for the biennial inspection of the bridge
From the east side of the bridge in St. Johns, head east on the Highway 30 Bypass (North Lombard Street) to Interstate 5 southbound to Interstate 405 south over the Fremont Bridge to Hwy 30 westbound.
From the west side of the bridge in Northwest Portland, travel eastbound on Interstate 30 to Interstate 405 northbound via the Fremont Bridge to I-5 northbound to Bypass of Highway 30 North (North Lombard Street).
Emergency vehicles will be permitted on the bridge during closing hours. The last two scheduled TriMet buses of the night, at 10:10 p.m. and 10:18 p.m., will also be allowed through each night.
