Denver’s Nathaniel Rateliff & the Night Sweats will headline Ball Arena on December 16th as part of the group’s biannual Holiday Show, promoter AEG Presents announced today.
The “7th, 10th Annual” show, as it is known, was interrupted by the pandemic, but is back in its biggest venue yet. Before Rateliff formed his Bob Dylan-approved Night Sweats, he held the annual holiday party to gather friends and fans for a night of reverie – initially at mid-size theaters such as the Ogden Theater (capacity 1,600 ) .
Significantly, the Dec. 16 show takes place at the home of the Colorado Avalanche and Denver Nuggets. It is one of the biggest stages in the area and Rateliff’s first headlining show there, having opened for the Rolling Stones at Empower Field in Mile High and headlined the box office Red Rocks concerts. closed several years ago.
Rateliff’s pal, Marcus Mumford, of the British pop-folk group Mumford & Sons, will be the opening act, alongside instrumental Hermanos Gutierréz.
