Mild Marathon Monday, Rain/Wind Monday Night – Boston News, Weather, Sports

7Weather – The weather is nice and mild for Marathon on Monday, then we bring rain late Monday evening until Tuesday morning.

Let’s start with the good stuff! It will be a bright but cool day at Fenway on Monday. Temperatures will hover around 50º throughout the match. The game starts with little to no wind, then a breeze picks up a bit throughout the game.

We are looking at a bright marathon Monday! Very early, between 5 and 7 a.m., temperatures will be in the upper 30s, but we jump into the lower 40s by 8 a.m. at the start line in Hopkinton.

It’s balmy halfway through the race with temperatures in the low to mid 50s at Wellesley. It will cool down a bit as the Boston runners approach. A land breeze keeps the coast near 50º.

The rain arrives Monday evening with light showers around midnight, then heavy rain from 3 a.m. to 7 a.m.

It will be windy for everyone, but it looks like the potential for damaging gusts of wind will be in Cape Town and the islands where a high wind watch is in effect from Monday evening to Tuesday morning.

The other thing we need to watch out for is the timing of the strongest gusts of wind. If the wind really picks up around the 1 a.m. high tide on Tuesday, there could be some minor coastal splashing or flooding (especially for Boston and the North Shore).

Expect rain for the Tuesday morning drive with some pockets of heavy rain possible. The rain receded quickly and it was dry by noon.

The sky is slowly clearing and it remains breezy for the rest of the day, but we are done with the potential for damaging gusts of wind around 7am.

The weather is calm the rest of the week ending the holiday week in the 60s.
