Palestinians woke up Tuesday morning to news that Israel had killed three other Palestinians, including a minor, in three separate incidents in the occupied West Bank and southern Israel.
All three killings took place during Israeli raids on Palestinian towns and neighborhoods, bringing the total number of Palestinians killed since the start of 2022 to 20.
In the West Bank, the Israeli army killed Nader Haitham Rayyan, 17, in the Balata refugee camp in Nablus, and Alaa Shahaam, 22, in the Qalandiya refugee camp in Ramallah.
According to the Palestinian Ministry of Health, nine Palestinians were injured in the raids on the Balata and Qalandiya camps.
The ministry said Rayyan was shot three times, in the head, abdomen and hand. Three other Palestinians from Balata were also injured in the raid, including at least one who was shot in the chest and is believed to be in critical condition.
Middle East Eye quoted an eyewitness as saying Rayyan ‘was on his way to a stall selling tea and coffee that belongs to his family when Israeli forces opened fire on him and his friend as they were riding a motorbike’ .
Wafa news agency reported that one person was arrested during the raid on Balata.
Rayyan is the second Palestinian from the Balata refugee camp to be killed since the beginning of the year. On January 26, Baker Hashash, 21, was killed by Israeli forces during a nighttime raid on the camp.
In the Qalandiya refugee camp, Israeli forces shot 22-year-old Alaa Shahaam in the head in a raid on Tuesday morning, killing him instantly. Six other people in the camp were also injured with live ammunition, according to the Ministry of Health.
In another raid on a Palestinian-majority town of Rahat in the Naqab region of southern Israel, an Israeli special forces unit shot and killed Sanad Salem al-Harbed, 27, a father of three, according to Al Jazeera.
Israel Police claimed that al-Harbed fired shots at his forces during a raid on the city and that the unit “neutralized the shooter who posed a threat”.
Israeli night raids on Palestinian cities are commonplace and often at night, especially in the occupied West Bank. The raids, which provoke Palestinian resistance, are often violent and seriously injure and kill Palestinians.
Since the start of 2022, at least six Palestinians have been shot and killed in Israeli night raids.
