Busy Monday evening for Teutopolis Unit 50 Board of Education

On Monday evening, the Teutopolis Unit 50 School Board held a public hearing on the proposed reclassification of an administrative employee at the request of Mr. Greg Beck.

Following the hearing, the Teutopolis Unit 50 School Board began its regular meeting at which the board passed a resolution to reclassify Mr. Greg Beck from principal to teacher at the end of the term. school year 2021-2022.

The board heard from Jaden Deters and Ellie Bloemer regarding senior year end dates and Melissa Orndorff regarding the high school graduation date. The Board of Directors has set the following dates for the year-end activities: Honored Elders Evening on Wednesday, May 11 at 7:00 p.m.; High school graduation on Sunday, May 15 at 2:30 p.m.; Jr High Promotion on May 20 at 7:30 p.m. at THS Gym. The Seniors trip to Indianapolis and the High School Student Council trip to Springfield were also approved.

The Board approved a contract renewal with Glass & Shuffett for the 2022 fiscal year audit and approved an application for registration under ISBE’s non-resident employee waiver for 2022-23. They approved a proposal by Upchurch Architects for the replacement of the TGS roof and the SEPCO annual cooperative agreement for food purchases for 2022-23.

The board approved the 2022-23 academic calendar as presented as well as the 2022-23 vacation calendar for 12-month employees. The board also approved the renewal of IHSA and IESA membership for the 2022-23 school year.

In staff moves, the board approved the resignations of: Jordan Pals as JH Baseball Assistant Coach, Christina Brown as TGS Music Teacher, Barb Weber as TGS Secretary and Amy Thoele as Paraprofessional TGS. The Board has approved a request for Teressa Jansen’s retirement effective at the end of the 2024-25 school year.

The board has hired the following contingent after meeting all employment requirements: Autumn Koester and Danaille Huffman as 7.5-hour paraprofessionals for the 2022-23 academic year; Amy Thoele as TGS Secretary 7.5 hours / 3 days a week for the remainder of the 2021-2022 academic term; Nicole Vineyard as TJHS Language Arts Professor for the 2022-23 academic year; Katherine Mette as THS Mathematics Professor for the 2022-23 academic year; and Jim Deitz as THS volleyball coach for the 2022-23 academic year.

The school board has also hired THS students as Diverse Occupation Student Workers for the 2022-2023 academic year, subject to them meeting all employment requirements.

The council has hired the following summer workers for 2022; Cheryl McLeod and Rachel Habing as full-time caretakers. Amber Rose and Tess Borries as part-time caretakers. Melinda Bloemer as the full-time Transportation Department Custodian. Josh Cottrill as a full-time maintenance worker and Tess Borries as a part-time technology worker.

Chet Reeder and Craig Toler were hired as driving education class teachers not to exceed 32 combined hours and as driving education instructors not to exceed 120 combined hours. Angie Hotze as library helper at TGS for 32 hours, Crystal Tipton as library helper at THS for 20 hours and Amy Nice as substitute library helper.

The Board approved the 12-month non-union employee rates of pay and Jr. High School officials’ pay tables as presented.
