The Altamont Community Unit School District No. 10 School Board held a tuition waiver hearing at 6:45 p.m. Monday night. A description of the waiver has been explained along with proof of all required elements. No written comments were submitted prior to the hearing and no public comments were made during the hearing.

The Board then held its regular meeting and approved the Superintendent to submit a tuition waiver request to the Department of Legislative Affairs to allow non-resident children of Altamont CUSD #10 full-time employees to attend the tuition-free Altamont schools.

They also approved the FY22 audit and agreed to add a secondary business teacher for school year 23-24 to add the following courses: Service Learning, Diversified Occupations, Accounting 1 & 2, Keyboarding and Computer Concepts & Software Applications.

An FFA overnight travel request to attend the Build conference in Bloomington was also approved, along with the purchase of a John Deere Z997R from Sloan Implement and the maintenance grant request.

Personnel issues included the board’s acceptance of Bonnie Lester’s resignation as a paraprofessional, though she will remain as a student council co-advisor through the end of the school year. Holly Homann was hired as a junior varsity women’s basketball coach and Eric Long was approved as a volunteer coach for the high school girls’ and men’s basketball teams.
